NO MORE CORD! Woo Hooo!

Makayla's near constant nursing is beginning to show. She's starting to look like a little chunk, with more and more rolls on her thighs and a little bit of a double chin. At this rate it won't be long and she'll be giving Jaden's thunder-thighs a run for their money. HAHA! Last Thursday her umbilical cord stump fell off. That means tummy time and baths. She had her first real bath last night which she enjoyed much more than the sponge baths she had been getting.

Daddy's beautiful girls

Daddy loves naptime... Choxie thinks its okay too

Oh my gosh! I'm on my tummy, this is so great!

Num Num Num

More tummy time

My very first bath... okay, this isn't so bad, I think I can handle this.

Just like a day at the spa

Comments Section Fixed

Okay, a number of you have made us aware that the "post a comment" option was not working correctly. After giving myself a crash-coarse on html code editing i think i have fixed the problem. Please let me know if it doesn't work. There will be more pictures posted this weekend!

Getting The Routine Down...

Makayla continues to amaze us every day as she grows into her own little person. We have gotten a pretty good system down in the last 10 days to allow us both to get as much rest as possible. Unfortunately Daddy has to go back to work tomorrow so we are going to have to figure out a whole new routine. Oh well, we will adjust. Here are few new pictures of our lovely little angel.

Mommy and Daddy have taken me on a few outings and lucky for them the car puts me to sleep right away.

I sleep best when I get to curl up next to my Mommy. We like to nap together.

I've got Daddy right where I want him...

...wrapped around my little finger. HeHeHe

What do you think? Will my eyes be blue?

We're on our own now...

Well, Grandma Dennis flew out this morning, Grandma Leonard left a few days ago, now this baby thing is all up to us... Scary! Just kidding, I think we would be nervous about it but Makayla is just such an easy baby. Anyway, we know that a lot of our family wanted to come see our daughter but logistics (airline prices), and our small house just couldn't accomodate. We want to extend a special thank you to our mothers, though. We really appreciate you coming to share this special time with us. We know how difficult it must have been to leave the cold and snow and come down to sunny San Diego, but THANK YOU!

Makayla's First Doctor Appointment

Today we took Makayla to the pediatrician for her first newborn checkup. She weighed 7lb 10oz and was 20 3/4 inches long. When she was born she weighed 7lb 12oz, she then lost 6oz (as all babies lose a little weight) but she has started to gain it back. No surprise as she LOVES to eat... Just like her daddy! She also received her first shot today, that was pretty heart breaking :( The doctor had nothing but great things to say about her health, she is doing great. Here are a couple photos from her appointment.

Every day Makayla's personality is becoming more and more evident. She has started to smile and make all sorts of funny faces. We call this, her "how you doin'?" face.

She is still spending a lot of time sleeping but when she is awake she is very bright-eyed and alert. We really lucked out because she rarely fusses and when she does it's brief, usually all she needs is to be fed or changed. Speaking of changing diapers... daddy had an interesting experience this evening. After removing her dirty diaper and getting her all cleaned up, he reached for the new diaper when he heard a small explosion and was covered with smelly green shrapnel. He was not the only casualty of war in this small scale attack, the changing pad, wipe warmer, hand sanitizer, and about 3 feet of changing table also received collateral damage. Count yourselves lucky I'm not posting pictures of that mess. It really goes to show a parent's love for their child when something of this caliber can make you laugh.

Here are a couple more pictures of Makayla hanging out around the house.

Pictures of our little angel

Okay, so we wanted these to be chronological but they came out backwards... Oh well. I guess read from the bottom of this post up. We'll get better.

Mommy and Daddy are exhausted, this is going to take some getting used to.

First day home. Makayla is becoming more and more alert. Here she is gazing lovingly at her mommy.

Still in the hospital, Daddy is in love.

About 1 hour old, my face is a little puffy and swollen but I'm still beautiful.

Ten perfect little toes.

Our First Post

Hey everybody,

We decided that we would create a blog in order to keep everyone up to date on the new addition to our family... Our daughter, Makayla Jo Hailey. We figured it would be easier than sending out a billion emails with a trillion photos every week. Bear with us since we've never had a blog before and we still have to figure out this program. If we could put a "site under construction" label on this site we would... but we have no idea how. We will be posting pictures as soon and as often as we can so check back often.
